Identification

Flounder has a white belly with a greenish brown top with faint reddish spots. It has rough scales along the lateral line. Their width is approximately half their length.

Habitat

Flounder are bottom dwellers and like sandy and muddy bottoms. They can be found inshore but also in very deep water.

Suggested Cooking Methods & Recipes

Flounder are good to eat but not as good as plaice or sole.

We recommend cooking them, like plaice on the bone under the grill. Spread a little butter on the and add a dash of lemon juice and some seasoning prior to cooking.
